Rooted in Cultural Memory
Every journey at Rhythm Planet draws its strength from the heartbeats of three continents. My path in music began as lived experience - immersed in the communal pulse of West African drum circles, drawn to the soul of calypso and steel pan reverberating through Caribbean nights, and grounded by the transformative rhythms emanating from the storied streets of New Orleans. These were not fleeting encounters but years spent learning, listening, and collaborating with artists and elders who treat rhythm as both inheritance and living conversation. Out of this dedication emerged a body of work that honors lineage - not as nostalgia, but as a source of vision and responsibility. Story and sound mingle here, shaped by countless hours in musicians' homes, rough-hewn rehearsal halls, and vibrant second-line parades. Each tradition becomes a thread, intricately woven into the Carrying the Rhythm project - a celebration of cultural memory expressed through original music, film, and the written word. Across every collaboration, authenticity is the sustained note, inviting artists and audiences to witness and co-create a living heritage. Rhythm Planet is a reflection of where I have come from, and a promise to help carry these stories forward - steadily, respectfully, together.
